MINE!!! ALL MINE!!!!!!

Mine, ALL MINE!!Click to enlargeI’ve never won anything racing out in Cumberland. In order to put a stop to this, I created the Team Zip-Tie Cup. As its creator, I also got to decide the points scale and tally up the scores. Guess what?

I WON!!!!!

Okay, that was one word, but at least I’m a winner.Saturday’s course kept everyone on edge. The lower surface temperature reduced overall grip, and several cars wound up in the dirt. Luckily, no one was hurt and no car was damaged. Although it did create a bit of a “pucker factor”.Below is a GPS map of Saturday’s course from my data logger (http://www.maxqdata.com).pumpkin_carve2007_sat.jpgClick to enlargeMaxQData file of my best run from Saturday.Right-click, Save-AsDownload the KMZ file (for Google Earth)You can analyze the file by downloading the “Chart” software from MaxQData – It’s free!!!!Sunday kept many of the same elements, but slowed down the approach to the “showcase” turn in order to keep a few more people out of the dirt.pumpkin_carve2007_sun.jpgClick to enlargeMaxQData file of my best run from Sunday.Right-click, Save-AsDownload the KMZ file (for Google Earth)I did not win my class this time around. Long story short – Civics. The other members of Team Zip-Tie all faired well and the competition was very close. Kate was also there whooping Corvettes in her Honda Fit.I will let the the other team members speak to the weekend, but I had a great time and I was very sad to see another season come to an end in Cumberland. All is not lost – the roll cage for the Camaro has arrived, so hopefully that project will pick up speed. FTD here I come!!!Team Zip-Tie CupFinal Standings – 20071. Gimp (69 points) – tee hee…. 692. Patrick (47 points)3. Rich (47 points)4. Thomas (29 points)5. Bill (25 points)A couple changes at the end, including a tie for second place. Overall, the Cup was a huge success. It helped us become better drivers. I cannot wait until next year.

Final Race Approaching – New Point Vaules…

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The final race in Cumberland is fast approaching, so I thought it was time to reveal the final details of the Team Zip-Tie Cup.

The Cup has been ordered and should be delivered in time, so dust off those shelves. This year’s loser builds/buys next year’s Cup.

1. Only the results from Saturday will be counted. This is to allow for calculation and presentation of the Cup.

2. The point-scale for the final race has been, “upped”. Here are the new values:

1st using PAX: 20 points
2nd using PAX: 18 points
3rd using PAX: 15 points
4th using PAX: 10 points
5th using PAX: 5 points

Good luck…

Raise the Bar, Then Watch the Bar Rip Off the Car

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

We still await the results from September’s Cumberland autocross. I have inside information that the computers are bogging down from calculating how awesome I am.

But I am special, so I have a little teaser:

“Double winners in contested classes for the weekend included Harris (SS), Buddy Haines (BS Nissan), Richard Biancone (BS Datsun), Larry Zadjel (DS Audi), Rob Robeson (HS Dodge), Alex Kelley (CSP Mazda), Marcus Houser (DSP Dodge), Bill Smith IV (EM Porsche), Paul Przyborski (ST BMW), Bob Williams (SM2 Porsche) and Chamberlain (XP FFR Cobra).”

The weekend was another great Cumberland weekend, all things considered.

Friday night saw some last minute tweaks to Patrick’s BMW, through the addition of a new front sway bar. In true young Geraghty fashion, it was not an easy task. Seems like at one point the car received a junkyard subframe that had some “iron oxide” weight reduction, right around where the sway bar mounts up. The good news is that it held all day Saturday. On Sunday, the new 28mm solid sway bar decided it was far to pretty to be under the car, and made an attempt to show itself to the world. Patrick took it in stride and drove the number 324 BMW of Paul Przyborski. While he did have trouble coping with the increase horsepower, he still managed to put down some respectable times.

Saturday’s course was nice and open, with no cross-overs. Times were fast and the competition was fierce. This event had the largest showing of STS vehicles all year – 4.

Sunday’s course was a bit more technical (maybe that’s why the sway bar left?), and saw an even larger field of STS vehicles – 5.

Patrick’s Run

Team standings, more video, and GPS course maps will be available soon.

UPDATE!!!!!

Results are in!

Team Zip-Tie Cup Standings

Saturday (98 Entrants)

5 – Gimp (35th in PAX)
4 – Rich (41st in PAX)
3 – Bill (46th in PAX)
2 – Patrick (45th in PAX)
1 – Thomas (51st in PAX)

Sunday (92 Entrants)

5 – Gimp (26th in PAX)
4 – Rich (40th in PAX)
3 – Patrick (55th in PAX)
2 – Thomas (56th in PAX)
1 – Bill (57th in PAX)

Current Team Standings

1. Gimp (49 points)
2. Patrick (32 points)
3. Rich (29 points)
4. Bill (20 points)
5. Thomas (19 points)

No change in rank, but things are really starting to tighten up.

If all goes as planned, next time will see Saturday being the only day counted, with a change in the amount of points awarded. It really is still anyone’s game.

Members – Set your decoder rings to “Super Secret”

Monday, October 1st, 2007

If you are not a member of Team Zip-Tie, stop reading…

Okay. Now that we are members only (sans sweet jackets), I’m putting two items up on the table for discussion.

1. Since next time is the last race of the season, I’m proposing that only Saturday counts. This will allow me time to tabulate the final results and present the Team Zip-Tie Cup, in all its glory, during the driver’s meeting on Sunday.

2. Expansion – I’m also proposing that we, as a team, consider growing. Really, this is just a good reason to haze the shit out of someone. At the end of the season, I can make a membership form, and then we can pick two people from the hundreds that are sure to waste their time for a no-traffic website racing team to beat the snot out of. They’d be on probation for our first year, have to set up our crap, bring us water, and attend X-number of events. The probational sticker will be some terrible color, like neon green or shit brown with “PLEDGE” written under it.

Let me know what you think…
