May 4th, 2009 by jthub620

It’s Monday after a Cumberland event and the latest post on this site is a Book of the Month Club article? WTF, yo?

:) :)

Missed you guys over the winter! Had a blast driving, just not as fast as I as I would have liked. :(

See you in June!!

    Hey John!

Due to unforseenish circumstances, I had to miss the first event this year. I heard everyone had a great time and assume the announcing was much more accurate. :)

I’ll be there for historics, in the meantime we’ll have to wait until NASA allows Paul enough time for an official team zip tie review of the weekend.

    Patrick,

I’ll give you the Reader’s Digest version:

Kate HAS learned how to do a burnout.

Mustang Boy HAS learned how to spin.

Gimpy HAS NOT learned how to drive (Sorry Paul. I had to sacrifice someone for the joke and I’m afraid of Kate.)

Rich- I didn’t see drive. (Sorry Rich) and I don’t mean, he can’t; I mean I literally did not see him drive.

  3. Team Zip-Tie Staff Gimp says:

Go ahead and make comments like that John. Now I’m going to use your tax money to post things on this site.

Write-up is on the way, but I’m waiting on the results.

You heard it here first: I strike fear in the heart of Cobra drivers!

(OK, I’m pretty sure the only reason John’s afraid of me is because he was gridded next to me and he was scared I’d back the car into him, but I’ll take what I can get!)

  5. Rich Rich says:

John, I think we were gridded too close on Sunday. In fact I spent most of my time behind the Easter Egg green 911 of Mark Boggs. Probably in PAX, Raw Time, & class as well. Don’t know if I saw me drive either, but I think the Sunday surfing was totally rad & I know it reminded me of the importance of braking before you turn. Should translate nicely to drier conditions. I felt very rusty on Saturday, but I did my best impersonations of the Geraghty Twins with spin outs & cone carnage.

It was not my best weekend as far as speed goes, but it was still a heap of fun!

Saturday- I just couldnt get it together for a good run, I kept coning and the tires (which sat out all winter on the car, meant to get the new 710′s mounted, but school took over my life) were WELL past their prime.

Sunday- yeaaaahhh… Sunday.. WET WET WET, I put the OLD azenis on thinking they would do better, they didnt really do well at all. Lots of countersteer and a big lack of forward bite. And of course, on 3 out of 5 runs the back end of the car broke the timing lights. That low speed turn, combined with my 57% front weight, Azenis down to the wearbars, a VERY aggressive LSD.. touch the gas there and it came around, I LITERALLY coasted out of the turn on the runs I didnt spin it.

YES! TZT has a new record for FAIL driving, crossing the finish lights backwards on 3/5ths of your runs!

I think if the E30 is running right its the rain car from now on. I was waiting for someone to come and give me a stern talking to about my spins. “I WAS TRYING NOT TO!!!”

    P.S.
I would like to thank the CACC for YEARS of inspiration in regards to car rotation antics! You guys set the bar high and its an honor to push it just that little bit higher. =P :P

    Gimpy,
You can’t scare me with the “your tax dollars at work” thing. Who do you think I work for? :-P

    Rich,

I love driving in the rain. Best training you can get! First time doing so with slicks. Fun!

    Joe,

I’m truly sorry I missed seeing your spins. Don’t feel too bad; I was able to almost 180 the car WHILE GOING STRAIGHT!!! To make it worse, I hadn’t hit the first turn out of the start box!! Woohoo!!

    Kate,
Just kidding. You drove (and backed up!) with style. :)
